Senior Commissioning Engineer - Telecom Systems

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SYSTEMS LLC is looking for a Senior Commissioning Engineer in Abu Dhabi to test and commission telecom systems of medium to high complexity, on small projects or parts of larger ones, in line with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. The engineer acts as the HITACHI ENERGY lead for commissioning on a project and reports functionally to the Commissioning Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Commission telecom systems in PDH, SDH, Ethernet and MPLS-TP technologies, and advise clients on maintenance and upgrades of their installed base.
• Support tendering by proposing technical solutions that meet client specifications, and give presentations and training on new products to internal and external customers.
• Represent the Commissioning function at project and design review meetings, implement design changes and produce as-built documentation.
• Support Project Managers with claims (scope, cost, time, risk) and create work plans and cost estimates for the assigned work.
• Coordinate site activities for customer acceptance certification and manage external commissioning providers, including permits to work and health and safety guidance.
• Ensure commissioning complies with safety regulations and contractual requirements, obtain utility approvals for commissioning, and prepare project documentation for SATO.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics & Communication or Telecommunications preferred.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience as a design and commissioning engineer of telecommunication systems.
• Hands-on experience with FOX615 MPLS-TP, FOX515H, FOX515T, SDH, PDH, Ethernet, voice technologies (SIP, VoIP) and network management systems.
• Knowledge of Hitachi systems and products is a must; knowledge of TROPOS, Keymile XMC20, IEC101/103/104, TCP/IP/serial and PLC programming is an added advantage.
• Ability to read telecom circuit and schematic drawings is a must; proficiency in spoken and written English is required, Arabic is an added advantage.
