Senior Consultant Fire & Life Safety

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is looking for a Senior Consultant Fire & Life Safety to join its team in the UAE. The consultant provides fire and life safety consultancy for complex, large-scale projects across the region, developing fire and life safety strategies, carrying out technical reviews and working with clients, authorities and project stakeholders to meet local and international codes and standards such as IBC, NFPA, BS, the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and SBC.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input on fire detection and alarm systems, water-based suppression, clean agent extinguishing, smoke control and passive fire protection systems, and prepare design submissions, calculations and strategy reports with senior engineers.
• Support compliance checks against Saudi and international codes, and assist with audits, site inspections and compliance reviews.
• Support fire risk assessments, hazard analyses and mitigation strategies for complex, high-profile projects.
• Assist with integrated testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients and government authorities, and mentor junior and graduate consultants.
• Contribute to bids and proposals, attend client meetings and represent WSP at industry events, and support the team's profile through conferences and publications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 8-12 years of experience in fire life safety/protection engineering consulting.
• Pursuing a professional license or certification (PE, CEng, CFPS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of UAE building codes and international standards (SBC, IBC, NFPA, BS).
• Experience in fire protection design, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke control systems, risk assessments and compliance audits.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
