Senior Design Engineer (Composites)

About the role

EDGE Group’s Advanced Concepts unit is seeking a Senior Design Engineer specialized in composites to lead manufacturing design and drive process improvements for high‑technology autonomous systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design reviews, select manufacturing processes, and critique new concepts for optimal production.
• Conduct comparative studies of materials and methods, presenting clear recommendations to project leadership.
• Create and implement engineering changes and shop‑floor work instructions, ensuring compliance throughout production.
• Drive material and process selection, design alternative processes, and improve quality, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.
• Monitor project‑specific production output, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop permanent solutions.
• Participate in technical design reviews, evaluate manufacturability, and generate reports on process changes.
• Analyze material usage and productivity metrics, proposing actionable improvement plans.
• Validate finished products against quality standards, tolerances, and mechanical performance.
• Apply advanced 3D design skills to redesign parts or develop complete assemblies from concept to production drawings with full BOMs.
• Support integration and testing of composite assemblies with electrical or hydraulic systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of production engineering experience focused on composites; 10 + years preferred.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Composites, Materials Science or related field.
• Certifications in DFMA, Six Sigma, or lean manufacturing are desirable.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision engineering environments, preferably in the UAE or Middle East.
