Senior Electronics Lab Technician

About the role

Geotab is seeking a Senior Electronics Lab Technician to prepare devices for network certification testing and to build and maintain manufacturing test equipment and fixtures used by Production and Automotive teams. The role involves hands‑on work with mechanical, electrical and pneumatic jigs, as well as assembling, programming and testing Geotab GO and IOX devices.

Key responsibilities

• Build, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic production jigs and equipment.
• Assemble, program and test Geotab GO and IOX devices, including soldering/desoldering and wiring‑harness assembly.
• Load firmware and run devices through test procedures to validate compliance ahead of network certification.
• Document device details, procedures, best practices, templates and tools for the wider team.
• Provide expert guidance, mentor new team members and support automation initiatives.
• Support global strategic initiatives across the Test and Automation function.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in electronics testing and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics with strong manual dexterity.
• Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Electronics, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
• IPC certification (IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7711/IPC‑7721, IPC J‑STD‑001) is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to work under pressure and shifting priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with Google Suite.
• Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating in a flat organization.
