Senior Engineer – Mass & Balance (Aerospace)

About the role

The Senior Engineer – Mass & Balance will manage aircraft mass‑properties and balance activities throughout the aerial vehicle development lifecycle. You will support mass estimation, weight control, centre of gravity, inertia calculations, aircraft weighing and technical reporting while collaborating with multidisciplinary aerospace teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain aircraft mass breakdown structures and weight statements.
• Perform mass, centre of gravity, inertia and loading calculations and establish mass targets, allocations and margins.
• Monitor aircraft mass growth, configuration changes and assess impacts of fuel, payload, stores and equipment.
• Support aircraft weighing, mass‑property verification and reconcile CAD, supplier and manufacturing data.
• Prepare mass‑property reports and technical evidence for programme reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve mass‑property tools and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Structural, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Typically 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience with strong focus on aircraft mass properties and balance.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a related discipline and experience with aircraft weighing, mass‑property verification, MATLAB, CAD, PLM or dedicated mass‑properties software.
