Senior I&C & Automation Telecom Engineer

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Senior I&C & Automation Telecom Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role involves delivering engineering solutions that meet client specifications, international standards, and project requirements across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and coordinate I&C, automation, and telecom engineering activities for FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, and brownfield projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve deliverables such as instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, control narratives, cause‑and‑effect charts, logic diagrams, and system architecture drawings.
• Design and specify field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, Fire & Gas, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, FAT, SAT, and design review workshops.
• Review vendor documents and provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start‑up.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution.
• Support site surveys, brownfield modifications, troubleshooting, commissioning, and handover activities while adhering to quality, HSE, schedule, and budget requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry.
• 5+ years in PMC projects with a solid background in multi‑discipline EPC teams.
• Proven experience supporting procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up activities.
• Experience in greenfield and brownfield terminal or facilities upgrade projects, preferably in the GCC/Middle East.
