Senior Manager Materials Management

About the role

The Senior Manager Materials Management leads the materials management effort for a project or area, developing plans covering business, production and organizational priorities. The role manages several related teams, allocates resources and resolves complex technical, operational and organizational problems, while supporting projects, products, services and technologies and developing policies and plans.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a material management strategy for tracking and documenting project materials, and lead the MM staff including project leaders
• Interface with Engineering and Procurement, Expediting and Logistics to define material management methods and structures
• Oversee planning and optimization of project space and tracking methodology, and provide input on budgeting, staffing and resource management
• Input data into resource management, oversee project setup and MOPEX, and support estimating for the bidding process
• Prepare and review the project-specific Materials Management Plan and the MM budget for proposals and bids
• Hire MM personnel as needed, supervise them technically and establish reporting tools
• Monitor compliance through internal audits, report status to upper management and enforce McDermott policies and procedures
• Ensure employees complete mandatory training on time and champion the company's Materials Management vision and goals

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred
• Over 10 years in the Energy Industry through all phases of EPCI project delivery
• Extensive functional, business, industry and leadership expertise, with broad experience in technical activities including on and offshore operations
• Team player who can also act as a team leader, with strong written and spoken communication skills

Required skills

• Exceptional understanding of Materials Management Systems in EPCI and fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel and Project
