Senior Merchandiser – Buying & Planning

About the role

The Senior Merchandiser drives sales, margin and inventory performance for assigned fashion categories, leading planning, buying and assortment activities across Al Futtaim’s retail network in the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver annual business plans, sales, margin and stock targets; monitor performance and adjust strategies.
• Lead merchandise planning, Open‑to‑Buy budgeting, range architecture and product selection to optimise stock turn and full‑price sell‑through.
• Collaborate with buying, operations, supply chain, marketing and brand partners to ensure commercial success and a customer‑focused offer.
• Conduct regular trading reviews, allocation and replenishment planning, and proactive markdown management.
• Provide market and competitor insights, support omnichannel initiatives and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management or related field.
• 5‑8 years of experience in fashion merchandising, planning or buying within a multi‑store, omnichannel environment.
• Proven track record of achieving sales, margin and inventory targets.
• Previous leadership experience managing and developing merchandising teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with retail planning systems and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, JDA or Blue Yonder.
• Strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
