Senior Ophthalmologist Consultant – Government Facility (UAE)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialist / Consultant Ophthalmologist to join a reputed government healthcare facility in the UAE. The role involves delivering comprehensive eye care, diagnosing a wide range of ocular conditions, and performing specialised ophthalmic procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnose various eye conditions.
• Manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal and corneal disorders.
• Perform ophthalmic surgeries and procedures relevant to the candidate’s subspecialty.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations including visual field tests, OCT scans, and retinal imaging.
• Develop individualized treatment plans, monitor patient progress and provide preventive eye‑care guidance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in clinical audits and CPD activities.

Required profile

• Recognised medical degree with postgraduate qualifications in Ophthalmology.
• Senior Specialist or Consultant level clinical experience.
• Relevant board certifications (UK CCT, American Board, Australian Board, German Board, etc.).
• Strong surgical experience appropriate to the subspecialty.

Required skills

• Ophthalmic examination techniques.
• Interpretation of visual field tests.
• OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scanning.
• Retinal imaging analysis.
• Surgical procedures in ophthalmology.
