Senior Power Electronics Engineer

About the role

POWERTECH is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, testing and optimisation of advanced power electronic systems. The role focuses on power conversion technologies such as AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC converters, motor drives and integrated power solutions for aerospace and defence applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop power electronic converters, inverters, rectifiers and motor drive systems.
• Select and size power semiconductors, magnetics, capacitors and protection devices.
• Create electrical schematics, PCB layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Develop control algorithms for power conversion and motor control.
• Evaluate and implement emerging SiC and GaN semiconductor technologies.
• Design novel topologies for DC‑DC converters, inverters and motor drives to improve energy management and compactness.
• Perform circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer, ensuring signal integrity and thermal performance.
• Model and validate system behaviour with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS and LTspice.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in power electronics design and development.
• Strong understanding of power conversion topologies, switching devices and modulation techniques.
• Experience with PWM, digital control systems and embedded control platforms.
