Senior Research Scientist – COF Water Treatment & Energy Storage

About the role

The Khalil Research Group at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior Research Scientist to lead the development and application of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for advanced water treatment and energy storage solutions. The role involves independent, high‑throughput research in a state‑of‑the‑art facility.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build automated high‑throughput COF synthesis setups.
• Develop and fabricate devices for water treatment and energy storage applications.
• Process and characterize COF materials, conduct experiments, and analyze results.
• Publish high‑quality research papers and present findings at conferences.
• Contribute to grant writing and funding acquisition efforts.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of post‑doctoral research experience.
• Strong publication record in reputable journals and conferences.
• Excellent experimental, device engineering, and materials characterization skills.

Required skills

• COF synthesis and high‑throughput synthesis techniques.
• Device engineering for water treatment and energy storage.
• Reaction engineering and process scale‑up.
• Materials characterization (e.g., spectroscopy, microscopy, porosity analysis).
