Senior Security Engineer - On-Site Abu Dhabi

About the role

AppliedAI is an AI technology company based in Abu Dhabi, focused on regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, government and financial services. Its Opus platform is a Knowledge Work AI system built around supervised automation, where AI handles repetitive, structured tasks and human experts provide oversight. As a Senior Security Engineer you will design and integrate security controls across cloud-native environments and AI-powered systems, embed secure-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle, and help define and pilot architectures that automate security processes at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct security assessments, threat hunts, code and log reviews and penetration testing, and drive continuous monitoring improvements
• Design, implement, optimise and monitor security controls and tooling across endpoints, infrastructure and application CI/CD pipelines
• Own incident response, from detection through containment, remediation and post-incident review
• Work with engineering teams to raise the security bar through reviews, guidance and embedding security across the SDLC and automation
• Act as a trusted security point of contact in customer-facing technical and security discussions
• Support compliance initiatives and customer security requirements, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, GDPR, HIPAA and emerging AI regulations

Required profile

• At least 7 years of experience in information security, ideally with a hands-on background in application or infrastructure security
• Solid understanding of core security principles and architectures, and threat modelling and secure system design
• Experience building, testing and deploying security solutions that automate complex processes
• Experience embedding security within the SDLC and exposure to AI and agentic systems (security, governance, identity, observability, risks, MCP, RAG, tools, memory, harnesses)
• Ability to translate security requirements into engineering-aligned solutions and a solid grounding in network security fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)
• Relevant certifications are a plus (CISSP, OSCP, CCSP, GIAC); hands-on track record matters more

Required skills

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), including securing cloud-native infrastructure and services
• SIEM, vulnerability management, IAM, SAST/DAST
• Scripting or programming (Python preferred) for automation and security tooling
