Senior Structural Designer

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced Senior Structural Designer in Dubai to create detailed structural designs and drawings for engineering and construction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, safety requirements and quality expectations. The role supports engineers by producing detailed structural drawings, 3D models and design documentation, and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare structural engineering drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, ensuring they meet industry codes, standards and company specifications.
• Coordinate with other disciplines on interface requirements and review IDC drawings from other disciplines; support the engineering team with interface drawings.
• Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) from the design drawings.
• Potentially visit project sites to carry out surveys.
• Perform self-checks and reviews of drawings for accuracy, completeness and clarity before submission.
• Manage and update drawing files, documentation and project data in the company's document management system.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in oil and gas structural design and drafting.
• Diploma in Civil or Structural engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good English communication skills.

Required skills

• Expert-level AutoCAD and AutoCAD 3D (typically mandatory).
• Knowledge of structural design activities such as slot additions, deck extensions, access platforms, risers, J-tubes and clamps, pipe support systems, lifting arrangements, jackets and topsides.
• Experience with Navisworks.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
