Senior Technical Manager - Offshore Vessels

About the role

Miclyn Express Offshore is looking for a Senior Technical Manager based in Dubai to manage the technical side of its fleet of managed vessels. The role covers organizing and delegating technical tasks, preparing the annual operating expenses for the vessel, monitoring technical activities and reviewing financial performance against budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, coordinate and delegate technical tasks; prepare the annual OPEX for the vessel under charge.
• Monitor DP and non-DP vessels' technical activities and ensure monthly PMS (Poseidon) analyses and log reviews are passed to the site office and vessel.
• Review financial performance against budgets for all ME vessels and keep track of technical expenditure on board, including vessels under maintenance or docking.
• Ensure vessels are maintained as well as owners' funds allow, and that technical specifications are kept up to date in the office.
• Assist the Group technical manager in developing and implementing technical procedures and work instructions, and liaise with customers on technical matters and vessel performance.
• Prepare accurate records during and after dry dockings and repairs, including cost summaries and comparison with budget.
• Source and purchase cost-effective technical supplies, maintain onboard inventories with regular checks, and arrange regular inspections and audits.
• Handle LSA and FFE execution, including selecting service providers, and follow up requisitions with purchasing so approved items reach the vessel.
• Determine the most cost-effective repair specifications for dry docking, maintenance and surveys, and compile reports after each dry docking.
• Attend sea trials, dry dockings, repairs and surveys when needed, travel overseas on short notice for inspections, meetings or surveys, and be responsible for lifting equipment and crane inspection.

Required profile

• Minimum Marine Engineering or Naval Architectural degree with relevant offshore ship management experience.
• Class 1 or 2 sea-going chief engineer with relevant ship management experience, or at least 5 years of experience in technical support.
• Thorough understanding of the Middle East and operating theatre.
• Strong knowledge of dynamic positioning, FMEA and managing FMECA.
• Detailed understanding of the rules, conventions and laws applicable to the industry, area of operation and vessels.
