Senior Technical Product Owner - AI & Machine Learning

About the role

A leading financial institution in the UAE is seeking a Senior Technical Product Owner specialising in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The role shapes and delivers enterprise AI capabilities as part of a broader Generative AI transformation, working at the intersection of AI engineering, data science and business strategy. It focuses on large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI systems and enterprise machine learning platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for enterprise AI and ML platforms, and lead cross-functional teams through product discovery, development, deployment and continuous improvement.
• Own and manage product backlogs across multiple agile squads, and turn technical requirements into product specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Work with data scientists, AI engineers and developers to deliver production-ready AI solutions, and manage dependencies and blockers.
• Set up evaluation frameworks, KPIs and success metrics for LLM-powered products and agentic workflows, and champion responsible AI, model transparency, data privacy and regulatory compliance.
• Support monitoring and observability of AI performance, and act as the bridge between technical teams and senior business stakeholders, building business cases and prioritisation frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging developments in Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, RLHF and agentic systems, and provide direction and support to a small product team.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of product management experience, with substantial exposure to AI, ML, enterprise technology or digital platforms.
• Demonstrable experience taking complex technology products from strategy through to delivery and adoption, and owning technical product backlogs.
• Experience working with data scientists, AI engineers and software engineering teams.
• Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI principles and the challenges of deploying AI in regulated environments; banking, financial services or fintech experience is particularly valuable.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to senior business and executive stakeholders.
• International relocation to the UAE is welcomed; candidates must be open to moving.

Required skills

• Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, agentic AI architectures and Azure OpenAI or enterprise AI platforms.
• Knowledge of LangChain, Pinecone or comparable AI orchestration and vector database technologies.
• Agile product management tools such as Jira.
• Preferred: a degree in computer science, business, information systems or a related field, and certifications such as CSPO or SAFe.
