Senior Traction Power Supply Engineer (Rail & Metro)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Traction Power Supply Engineer to join Sener’s Rail & Metro team in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves leading the design and technical delivery of railway traction and power supply systems from concept through to construction documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and technical delivery of traction and railway power supply systems across all design stages (concept, preliminary, detailed, IFC).
• Develop and review designs, specifications, calculations, reports, drawings, equipment schedules and other engineering documentation.
• Design traction power architectures including power distribution, substations, feeder systems, return circuits, protection and earthing.
• Perform load assessments, load flow, voltage drop, short‑circuit, protection coordination and earthing studies.
• Coordinate with rolling stock, signalling, train control, SCADA, telecommunications, civil, track, MEP and other disciplines.
• Manage interfaces with railway systems and wider electrical infrastructure.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, workshops, constructability and value‑engineering activities.
• Review supplier proposals, RFIs, equipment specifications and provide technical responses to design queries.
• Support installation, integration, testing and commissioning of traction power systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related field.
• 12–13 years of overall engineering experience, with at least 10 years in rail & metro projects.
• Proven experience in design and delivery of traction power and railway power supply systems.
• Strong understanding of railway traction power, power distribution, substations, feeder and return circuits, protection and earthing.
