Shipping & Dispatch Officer

About the role

The Shipping & Dispatch Officer will lead export logistics operations from UAE ports, ensuring cargo is shipped on time, within budget, and in full compliance with international trade regulations. You will coordinate vessel planning, port activities, and documentation while minimizing demurray and operational delays.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate export shipments of breakbulk, sheet piles, and billets.
• Liaise with shipping lines, vessel agents, port authorities, and internal teams for smooth cargo handling.
• Monitor vessel nomination, berthing schedules, loading/discharging operations, and turnaround times.
• Prepare and verify export documentation (Bill of Lading, invoices, customs paperwork, certificates).
• Track cargo movement from yard to vessel and ensure readiness for loading.
• Coordinate with transport providers to deliver cargo to port on schedule.
• Control demurrage, detention, port handling fees, and other logistics costs.
• Provide daily operational updates and proactively flag delays or risks.
• Support contract execution and ensure compliance with shipping terms such as CFR and Liner Out.
• Participate in negotiations with suppliers, agents, and shipping lines when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or port operations.
• Strong exposure to export cargo handling, vessel operations, and port coordination.
• Experience in the steel or bulk cargo industry is preferred.

Required skills

• Export documentation preparation (Bill of Lading, customs paperwork, certificates).
• Vessel nomination and berth scheduling.
• Port coordination and cargo tracking.
• Knowledge of shipping terms (CFR, Liner Out) and demurrage management.
