Site Engineer - Energy Efficiency Projects

About the role

Ark Energy is an advisory firm focused on energy efficiency, digitalization and decarbonization, using AI tools to help clients reduce energy costs and reach net zero. It is looking for a practical, technically strong Site Engineer to support its energy consulting and project implementation work on a project-by-project basis. The role is field-oriented, involving site visits, energy audit inspections, HVAC assessments, material and installation checks, and commissioning support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct walk-through audits of commercial, residential, hospitality and district cooling facilities, and inspect HVAC systems including chillers, pumps, AHUs, FAHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, control panels, BMS field devices and sensors.
• Support Delta-T investigations and verify operating conditions, BMS control sequences and setpoints, capturing field observations, measurements and photos.
• Survey and verify BMS/SCADA systems, control sequences, alarm configurations and trend logs, and inspect electrical and control panels (MCC, starter, VFD, DDC) against approved drawings.
• Verify field instrumentation and IoT sensors, support installation and commissioning of wireless IoT sensors and data loggers, and carry out point-to-point testing and I/O verification.
• Attend MIR, WIR and testing and commissioning inspections, verify materials and workmanship, and support pre-commissioning of chilled water systems and HVAC equipment.
• Document findings in site inspection checklists, MIR/WIR comments, audit forms and site visit reports, and compile trend exports and sensor logs for consultant use.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of practical site experience in HVAC, chilled water, district cooling, BMS/controls or MEP projects.
• Experience in site inspections, QA/QC, commissioning or implementation supervision.
• Ability to review technical submittals, shop drawings, control philosophies and wiring diagrams.
• Fluent English required; Arabic is a plus; UAE driving licence preferred.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with BMS/BAS and SCADA systems, including trend logs, alarms and setpoints.
• Knowledge of electrical and control panels (MCC, starter, VFD, DDC) and field instrumentation and IoT sensors.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, LoRaWAN, MQTT or KNX and their integration into BMS, SCADA and energy monitoring platforms.
• Nice to have: district cooling, ESCO/ESPC projects, ASHRAE Level 1 or 2 energy audits, chiller plant optimization, HVAC testing and commissioning, and BMS/DDC controls.
