Sonographer – Ultrasound

About the role

The Sonographer – Ultrasound will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, capture high‑quality sonographic images, and report findings to the supervising radiologist. Working directly with patients, the role supports prenatal care and a wide range of clinical investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all sonography procedures, ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Collaborate with radiologists to optimise scan protocols and arrange further imaging when required.
• Operate advanced radiology software for image reconstruction, quantification and dynamic imaging.
• Monitor equipment safety, report incidents or faults promptly, and perform routine maintenance.
• Support quality‑improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with patient‑care standards.
• Administer basic medical procedures such as oxygen delivery, vital‑sign monitoring and emergency treatment as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years post‑graduate experience in an acute‑care hospital setting.
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound/Sonography (3‑year program) or Associate Degree in Sonography (2‑year program).
• Registration, certification or accreditation as a radiographer/sonographer.
• Additional qualification in Radiography or Radiology is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficient operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
• Experience with advanced radiology software (image reconstruction, quantification, dynamic imaging).
• Ability to optimise cross‑sectional imaging protocols.
• Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Patient monitoring and basic emergency response.
