Specialist Anaesthetist – Ophthalmic Surgery

About the role

Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi, a world‑leading centre for eye care, is seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist to deliver high‑quality anaesthetic services for a broad range of ophthalmic procedures on a part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic care for cataract, corneal, oculoplastic, paediatric, glaucoma and vitreoretinal surgeries.
• Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments, risk stratification and optimisation of comorbidities.
• Administer general, regional, monitored sedation and local anaesthetic techniques appropriate to each procedure.
• Ensure safe peri‑operative and post‑operative care, including effective pain management and recovery monitoring.
• Support emergency anaesthetic requirements related to ophthalmic surgical services when needed.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to maintain efficient operating theatre workflow.
• Maintain compliance with clinical governance, patient safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Highly skilled and patient‑focused specialist anaesthetist.
• Minimum of 36 months of relevant anaesthetic experience.
• Ability to work closely with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams.
