Specialist Pediatric Critical Care

About the role

The Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care will join Tawam Hospital’s intensive care unit, delivering high‑quality care to critically ill children. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role combines direct patient management with leadership of junior medical staff and participation in multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pediatric patients in the critical care setting according to best‑practice guidelines.
• Supervise and mentor junior doctors, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and adjust treatment plans based on investigation results.
• Document clinical information accurately and timely in the hospital information system.
• Coordinate with other specialties and support services to arrange investigations, procedures and referrals.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, providing out‑of‑hours coverage including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, performance management, peer review and incident reporting.
• Ensure informed consent is obtained and patients are prepared for all procedures.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent in Pediatric Critical Care.
• Current registration with the UAE health authority and eligibility to practice in the UAE.
• Demonstrated experience in a pediatric intensive care environment.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
