Specialist Physician – Dermatology

About the role

The Specialist Physician – Dermatology provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within the dermatology division of SSMC. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role combines direct clinical responsibilities with the training and supervision of junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat dermatological conditions in accordance with best‑practice guidelines.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise and mentor junior doctors, sharing responsibility for the care they deliver.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties, and coordinate referrals.
• Ensure appropriate use of resources, adhere to hospital policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, and discharge.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Communicate diagnosis, treatment plans and follow‑up instructions clearly to patients and families.
• Support departmental initiatives, performance management, incident reporting and other administrative duties as required.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent in Dermatology.
• Current registration with the relevant medical authority in the United Arab Emirates.
• Proven clinical experience in dermatology, preferably at a specialist or consultant level.
• Ability to supervise and train junior medical staff.
• Commitment to delivering evidence‑based, patient‑focused care.
