Specialist Safety Engineer – Technical

About the role

The Specialist Technical Safety Engineer will provide expert technical and process safety engineering support throughout the offshore project lifecycle for a major ADNOC offshore project. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and involves working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure compliance with ADNOC requirements and international safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist Technical Safety and HSE support during FEED, detailed engineering, construction and commissioning phases.
• Identify, assess and mitigate hazards across design, construction, start‑up and operations.
• Lead and facilitate safety workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bow‑Tie, SIMOPS and ENVID studies.
• Review and verify process‑safety design requirements, safety‑critical elements and loss‑prevention philosophies.
• Develop and check technical‑safety calculations, datasheets, specifications, drawings and other deliverables.
• Coordinate safety requirements with process, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical and civil disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC, IEC, NFPA and API standards and support technical and HSE assurance reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 17 + years of overall Oil & Gas experience, including at least 5 + years on offshore projects.
• Extensive experience in technical safety/process safety engineering within EPC/PMC environments.
• Proven involvement in offshore brownfield modifications and ADNOC projects.
