Staff Nurse – Operating Theatre (TP)

About the role

The Operating Theatre (TP) Staff Nurse provides direct and indirect age‑specific care to patients in the surgical suite. The role involves full‑cycle nursing responsibilities, strict adherence to Joint Commission International standards, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient‑centered care in the operating room using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Operate and maintain specialised equipment such as the Arthroscopy Tower System, Stotz Laparoscopic Tower, and electrosurgical devices.
• Set up, monitor, and manage chest tube drainage systems for adults and paediatric patients, including removal.
• Conduct instrument, sponge and sharp counts, maintain a sterile field, and enforce surgical safety protocols (laser, smoke, latex allergy, minimal invasive surgery).
• Ensure compliance with JCI accreditation requirements, fire safety, infection control, and medication safety, including narcotic handling.
• Participate in unit meetings, quality‑improvement projects, and mandatory education programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and registration as a Registered Nurse in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, or UAE.
• Minimum two years of recent operating‑room experience post‑graduation.
• Valid nursing licence/registration in the home country or last place of employment.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
