Structural Engineer - Healthcare Projects

About the role

A leading engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to oversee and coordinate structural engineering for complex building projects, including healthcare projects. The engineer ensures structural works are designed, reviewed and built in line with approved designs, project specifications, codes and industry standards, working with project managers, architects, consultants, contractors and other disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and oversee structural works from design development through construction and completion
• Check structural drawings, calculations, specifications, shop drawings and technical submittals against approved design and project requirements
• Coordinate structural design and construction with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and subcontractors
• Inspect sites and monitor workmanship, materials and compliance with approved drawings
• Resolve technical and structural issues and review method statements, RFIs and technical submissions
• Ensure compliance with local authority requirements, international codes and standards
• Monitor progress, attend technical and site meetings, and coordinate interfaces between disciplines to resolve clashes
• Support testing, inspection, snagging, handover and close-out, and guide junior engineers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 7-10 years of professional structural engineering experience, preferably in building consultancy or construction
• Hospitality experience is preferred; healthcare, commercial, residential or mixed-use experience is an advantage
• Professional engineering membership, certification or registration preferred
• Experience under FIDIC contracts and in a consultancy/supervision environment is an advantage
• UAE/GCC project experience and familiarity with local authority requirements is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of structural design principles, materials and systems
• Proficiency in reviewing drawings, calculations and technical documents
• Site inspection, quality control and construction supervision
• Preferred: AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Revit
