Technical Manager - Construction

About the role

Nova International General Contracting, a UAE-based general contractor specializing in branded residences, is looking for a Technical Manager to lead its technical department. The role covers design coordination, engineering, BIM and the technical office, and works closely with project managers and construction managers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical department, including design coordination, engineering, BIM and technical office teams.
• Review and coordinate architectural, structural, MEP and specialist subcontractor designs, ensuring deliverables meet project specs, local authorities and international standards.
• Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical proposals; identify clashes and constructability issues and provide technical solutions.
• Manage design consultants, resolve RFIs and technical queries, and coordinate the multidisciplinary design process with clients, contractors and authorities.
• Monitor design progress, manage design changes and risks, and support value engineering.
• Support project teams through planning, execution, procurement and handover, and monitor technical risks.
• Recommend alternative materials, systems and construction methods, and act as the main technical interface with clients, consultants and regulators.
• Ensure compliance with UAE building regulations and authority requirements, and support quality assurance and technical audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture (Master's preferred).
• At least 17 years of experience in engineering and construction.
• At least 5 years in a senior technical leadership role within leading contracting companies.
• Strong experience delivering luxury villas, high-end residential communities, residential towers, mixed-use developments and design & build projects.
• Extensive UAE/GCC experience is essential.

• Structural, architectural and MEP design coordination.
• Construction methodologies and buildability reviews.
• Knowledge of UAE authorities, codes, regulations and approval processes.
• Experience with BIM, engineering management systems and digital construction tools.
