Superintendent - Construction (Mechanical)

About the role

Petrofac, an international service provider to the energy industry, is recruiting a Construction Superintendent (Mechanical). The role leads multi-discipline site-based construction supervision and construction contractors, works to a 90-day look-ahead schedule, and takes ownership of safety, quality and schedule. The company supports flexible working requests and uses a hybrid approach for most office-based roles, asking employees to be in the office at least three days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Work to a 90-day look-ahead schedule, lead site-based construction supervision and contractors, and support subcontractors in choosing the best way to execute the works
• Monitor daily construction details and progress, and verify subcontractor use of personnel and equipment on reimbursable contracts by signing off daily timesheets
• Take ownership of safety: review subcontractor HSSE plans, conduct toolbox talks, inspect the site daily for housekeeping, and encourage reporting of near misses and unsafe acts
• Verify ITPs and QCPs are in place, check quality of materials received, and ensure equipment and bulk materials are stored and preserved correctly
• Attend pre-walkdowns and walkdowns, resolve technical queries and non-compliance reports, and follow the QinC Quality in Construction approach
• Lead four-week schedule review meetings, review weekly work plans, submit daily and weekly reports, and propose remedial action for work falling behind schedule
• Manage vendors, coordinate mobilisation, and account for vendor timesheets and mobilisation costs
• Review and approve subcontractor method statements, attend cost awareness sessions, and track subcontract compliance with the contract
• Support the client through approvals, close punch lists, and assist with the commissioning plan
• Provide day-to-day support for mechanical rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, pumps, steam turbines) and their auxiliaries, including preservation, preventative maintenance and mechanical seals
• Plan and coordinate process piping, read mechanical drawings (section, construction, P&ID) and implement flange management and pressure test procedures
• Train nationals through shadowing, mentoring and on-the-job training, and provide feedback and coaching to construction supervisors
