Technical Manager – BESS & Hybrid Solutions

About the role

Masdar is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the technical and techno‑economic analysis, design and project management of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid solutions. The role will guide the development lifecycle, ensure alignment with engineering plans and support strategic planning and resource allocation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design, budgeting and scheduling for BESS and hybrid projects, coordinating with contractors, clients and stakeholders.
• Define basic designs, review test procedures for plant components such as foundations, batteries and converters, and prepare EPC technical annexes.
• Provide technical guidance throughout project phases, ensuring compliance with safety, performance and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering preferred.
• 6‑8 years of experience in BESS technologies, with at least 3 years leading large‑scale hybrid projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hybrid simulation tools and exposure to hybrid power‑plant simulation software.
• Experience preparing EPC technical annexes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems and grid energy management systems.
