Technical Specialist – Waste Recycling Projects

About the role

The Technical Specialist provides engineering and project support for the development, construction, commissioning and operation of recycling and waste treatment facilities. The role ensures projects meet operational, environmental, quality, safety and regulatory requirements while driving efficiency and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of engineering and operational improvement initiatives across multiple recycling and waste treatment sites.
• Assist in evaluating new technologies, preparing cost estimates, tracking budgets and monitoring contractor performance.
• Coordinate project planning, scheduling, risk tracking and documentation, including technical reports and progress updates.
• Conduct site inspections, review engineering drawings and specifications, and support commissioning and performance verification activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Procurement and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 2‑5 years of experience in project engineering within waste management, recycling facilities, wastewater treatment or related industrial plants.
• Experience with MRF, C&D recycling, landfill or SRF/RDF projects is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills for process performance monitoring and cost‑reduction opportunities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
• Familiarity with project scheduling tools such as Primavera or MS Project.
• Commissioning and start‑up support experience.
• Knowledge of waste processing technologies and equipment.
• Relevant HSE certifications.
