Tint-Cell Operator

About the role

The Tint-Cell Operator plays a key part in the day-to-day production at PPG's Dubai plant. The role covers accurate blending, color matching and quality control of paint batches in line with PPG's formulations, standards and safety guidelines. It is a hands-on position requiring technical precision and a strong safety mindset.

Key responsibilities

• Blend, pour and mix intermediates according to batch tickets using wall-mounted HSD, drum mixer, Fillon Pichon, paint shaker and weighing scales, following PPG SOPs.
• Fill approved batches within tolerance specs, checking that labels, batch numbers and manufacturing and expiry dates match the work order.
• Manage paint inventory, track material usage and log formulas into batch tickets.
• Prepare and spray batch samples on color panels, check color accuracy with a spectrophotometer and color correction software, add colorants as needed, and record gloss, specific gravity and viscosity on the QC card before release.
• Operate, clean and maintain blending and tint cell equipment such as spray guns and mixing machines, and computerized systems, at scheduled intervals.
• Follow life-critical rules, PPG safety regulations and local requirements, including bonding and grounding when handling flammable liquids, and keep explosive-environment equipment standards, sealed containers and fire-safe waste disposal.

Required profile

• High school diploma; a technical diploma or certification in chemistry, paint technology or a related field is preferred.
• 2-4 years in paint blending, coatings manufacturing or a similar production environment; hazardous materials experience is a strong advantage.
• English proficiency required; Arabic or other languages are an advantage.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, able to handle multiple tasks in a structured shift, with good team communication.

Required skills

• Hands-on knowledge of industrial blending equipment.
• Spectrophotometer operation and color correction software.
• Reading and interpreting batch tickets, work orders and SOPs.
• Familiarity with flammable liquid handling, chemical waste disposal and explosive environment safety.
