Unit Manager - Labour & Delivery

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead the midwifery and nursing team in a high‑volume Labour & Delivery unit, ensuring patient‑centric, evidence‑based care and a positive experience for mothers and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and management guidance to the midwifery/nursing team.
• Ensure compliance with clinical standards, legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and manage capacity, staffing and patient flow to meet growing demand.
• Lead obstetric emergency preparedness, including PROMPT training.
• Manage clinical and non‑clinical resources cost‑effectively.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery (Master’s preferred).
• 3‑5 years senior midwifery experience, preferably in a private hospital.
• Experience managing a high‑volume Labour & Delivery service.

Required skills

• Implementation of the Scientific Nursing Process.
• Advanced CTG interpretation and perinatal safety standards.
• Knowledge of UAE Labour Law and Abu Dhabi Department of Health regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and cost‑management principles.
• Strong obstetric emergency management and PROMPT course facilitation.
