Utilities Commissioning Superintendent – Offshore Water Injection

About the role
The Utilities Commissioning Superintendent will lead the commissioning, start‑up and handover of all utility systems for an offshore water injection project based in Abu Dhabi. The role combines office‑based planning with a 6‑week on/3‑week off offshore rotation, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of power, air, water, HVAC, fire‑water and telecommunications infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Lead commissioning and start‑up activities for all utility systems from pre‑commissioning through handover.
- Develop and execute commissioning strategies, schedules and work plans, coordinating EPC contractors, vendors and construction teams.
- Direct commissioning of electrical utilities (generation, switchgear, UPS, transformers), mechanical utilities (air, nitrogen, diesel, HVAC, water, fire‑water, drainage, chemical dosing) and telecom/control systems.
- Manage vendor and contractor performance, ensure warranty compliance and oversee equipment testing and documentation.
- Support integrated start‑up, prepare handover dossiers and provide on‑site assistance during stabilization.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process Engineering or related field; professional engineering certification preferred.
- 18‑22 years of oil & gas experience with at least 7 years in offshore utilities commissioning and start‑up.
- Proven experience on large EPC offshore projects, preferably water injection or gas processing facilities in the Middle East.
- Strong understanding of offshore safety regulations, HSE standards and industry codes (API, IEC, NFPA, ISO, DNV).
Required skills
- Utility systems commissioning methodologies for power, air, water, HVAC, fire‑water and telecom.
- Mechanical completion and commissioning management tools (ICAPS, WinPCS, COMPLEX, MCPlus, ProCoSys or similar).
- Interpretation of P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, process flow diagrams and system boundaries.
- Planning, troubleshooting and problem‑solving in offshore environments.
