Vice President – AML Investigations & RRU

About the role

The Vice President – AML Investigations & Regulatory Response Unit (RRU) will lead the bank’s anti‑money‑laundering investigations programme, overseeing on‑shore investigators and analysts across multiple business lines in the United Arab Emirates. Reporting to senior management, the role also acts as Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) or delegate for filing Suspicious Transaction Reports to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with evolving AML/CTF regulations and supporting risk management for emerging digital finance services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the AML Investigations and Analysis programme, leading a team of on‑shore investigators and indirectly a team of analysts in Centres of Excellence.
• Make decisions on cases that require filing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit in the capacity of Deputy MLRO or MLRO delegate.
• Oversee and manage the operations of the Regulatory Response Unit.
• Maintain ongoing awareness of internal and external AML/CTF requirements and emerging legal statutes, proactively identifying issues that could affect the bank’s risk profile.
• Provide AML advice and guidance to Embedded Compliance functions, Business, Technology, Digital/Analytics and Operations.
• Support development of risk‑management frameworks for emerging businesses and partnerships, including FinTechs, Payment Service Providers and Digital Asset/VASPs.
• Develop and run the AML Intelligence Exchange capability.
• Lead strategy and delivery of technology and advanced analytics projects to improve risk coverage, reduce process inefficiencies and enhance customer experience.
• Continuously optimise AML risk‑management models and processes, delivering efficiency improvement plans without compromising risk coverage.
• Manage regulatory reviews, internal audits and assurance reviews, and promptly respond to regulatory and law‑enforcement queries.
