Warranty Engineer - Substations

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY SYSTEMS LLC is looking for a Warranty Engineer in Abu Dhabi to manage warranty obligations for DEWA, TAQA, ADNOC, SEWA substation and DRPC projects and containerized stations. The role covers technical investigations, site support and client coordination, and requires hands-on experience with substation installation, testing and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage warranty obligations and act as the main point of contact for warranty issues raised by clients
• Receive, record, track and close warranty claims within contractual response times, keeping warranty logs, progress reports and closure documentation
• Ensure compliance with project warranty and defect liability period requirements
• Investigate equipment failures and defects, lead root cause analysis (RCA) and coordinate with engineering, commissioning, quality and OEM teams on corrective actions
• Monitor equipment reliability and recurring issues
• Attend substations for troubleshooting, prepare method statements, obtain permits to work and supervise repairs, replacements, testing and recommissioning
• Manage petty cash and have delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits
• Coordinate site mobilization of service engineers and specialists
• Interface with DEWA, TAQA, consultants and end users, attend technical meetings and deliver warranty performance reports

Required profile

• Background in GIS and AIS substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV preferred)
• TAQA competency in plant-GIS, transformer and auxiliary systems
• Power transformers and reactors, GIS switchgear and circuit breakers, protection relays and control systems, cable systems, battery and DC systems
• Testing and commissioning procedures and RCA methodologies
• Ability to work safely in line with utility standards and Hitachi Energy's values of safety and integrity
