Well Engineer

About the role

The Well Engineer provides engineering and operational support for rigs and well sites, delivering optimized technical well designs and ensuring safe, efficient execution of drilling, completion and workover activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver well proposals, basis of designs, and well programs (drilling, completion, workover).
• Prepare project budgets, schedules, and end‑of‑well reports.
• Act as Assistant Well Site Leader, supporting real‑time operations and risk management.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and communicate findings.
• Participate in incident response, recovery, and investigations.
• Evaluate service companies, suppliers and equipment; contribute to selection processes.
• Conduct engineering studies to solve recurring well problems and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in well engineering within the oil & gas sector.
• Proven ability to manage medium‑ and long‑term program requirements.
• Strong analytical skills to compare execution versus design and capture improvements.
• Excellent communication with customers, project leads and third parties.
