Year 1 Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Start Sep 2026

About the role

GEMS World Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Primary Year 1 Teacher to join its Secondary Inclusion department on a maternity‑cover basis starting September 2026. The role supports a non‑selective, culturally diverse community and contributes to the school’s reputation for inspiring a love of learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Year 1 lessons aligned with the IB philosophy and Learner Profile.
• Provide personalised support to students, particularly those with inclusion needs.
• Collaborate with the Inclusion team and leadership to develop curriculum and assessment strategies.
• Participate in data‑driven review of student progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
• Contribute to the department’s continuous improvement and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree with a teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, etc.).
• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably in secondary inclusion or an IB environment.
• Strong understanding of the IB framework and commitment to its values.
• Passion for working in a diverse, non‑selective community.
• Desire for ongoing professional growth and collaboration.
