Architecture Inspector - Road and Traffic Construction

About the role

As an Architecture Inspector within the Construction Supervision Department, you report to the Resident Engineer and Section Engineers. You carry out site inspections on road and traffic construction projects to ensure construction complies with approved plans, specifications, codes and land boundaries provided by the Government. The role works closely with the construction team, engineers and contractors to verify structural quality, material compliance and adherence to contract documents.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect projects during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to specifications and codes
• Inspect facilities and installations for environmental impact and conformity with design
• Monitor use of materials and construction techniques for regulatory compliance
• Check plumbing, wiring, equipment and appliance installation
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment and elevation against plans and codes
• Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs
• Attend off-site and out-of-country inspections of materials, samples, mock-ups and testing
• Inspect procured materials and ensure they are stored and protected as recommended by manufacturers
• Verify adherence to approved shop drawings and snag lists, and obtain accurate survey control point information from the construction team
• Comply with company policies, standards and applicable laws

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering or a related technical field (preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in construction/architectural inspection, quality control or site supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination with engineers and contractors

Required skills

• Working knowledge of architectural and construction codes, standards and material specifications
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings and technical specifications
• Basic proficiency in surveying tools and measurement techniques
• Proficiency in relevant documentation and reporting software (e.g. MS Office); familiarity with site inspection or QA/QC software is a plus
