Area Manager – Shipping & Port Operations

About the role

The Area Manager will lead day‑to‑day shipping agency and port operations across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with company policies and international maritime regulations while driving business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee business operations, ensuring efficient execution of shipping agency services and adherence to maritime regulations.
• Coordinate vessel handling, port calls, documentation, customs clearance and maintain service quality.
• Manage relationships with port authorities, suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring contractual compliance and cost effectiveness.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the business, identify market opportunities and support client acquisition.
• Manage the area’s P&L, budgets and financial forecasts to achieve profitability.
• Lead recruitment, development and performance management of area teams, fostering a collaborative and safety‑focused culture.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in shipping or logistics with proven managerial roles.
• Strong knowledge of port operations, vessel handling, customs procedures and international maritime regulations.
• Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L and achieving profitability targets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to represent the company at industry events.
