Assistant Buyer – Duty Free (Zanzibar)

About the role

The Assistant Buyer will support the Buyer & Merchandiser in day‑to‑day buying and sourcing activities for duty‑free and retail operations linked to the new ZOMA concept at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. Based at ELR’s head office in Dubai, the role works closely with both international and local suppliers to ensure product availability and commercial execution.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in product selection and development using trend analysis, sales data and customer insights.
• Prepare and maintain buying plans, range sheets, product information and contract documentation.
• Execute buying plans across international imports and local retail categories.
• Liaise with suppliers on availability, lead times, order tracking and contract administration.
• Serve as the primary contact for local suppliers and support relationship management with international partners.
• Support supplier negotiations, promotional planning and compliance with procurement policies.
• Monitor sales performance, stock levels and market trends; prepare weekly and monthly reports.
• Ensure products are presented in‑store according to brand standards.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supplier price lists and coordinate trade agreement revisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years of experience in retail buying support, supplier coordination, sourcing or account management.
• Proven experience working with both international and local suppliers.
• Confidence in building effective supplier relationships.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
