Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the engineering department at Sheraton Sharjah, overseeing maintenance, safety, and guest repair requests while ensuring the hotel’s facilities operate smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges and meters; identify and operate all shut‑off valves.
• Order, label, stock parts and supplies; maintain inventory and purchase‑order logs.
• Inspect tools, equipment and machines; record work information using computer systems.
• Operate power lift and complete life‑safety checklists, including fire‑pump and generator run tests.
• Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems; assist in developing disaster‑response protocols.
• Respond to guest repair requests and ensure timely resolution.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and coaching staff.
• Enforce safety and security policies, report hazards and complete required safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality of proprietary information and high standards of guest service.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering or maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.
