Assistant Librarian and Archivist

About the role

The Sharjah Performing Arts Academy is looking for an Assistant Librarian and Archivist to support the daily operations of its library and archives. Working under the Academic Librarian, you will help maintain an organized, accessible collection of both physical and digital resources for students, faculty, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with cataloguing and classifying library materials using AACR2, DDC, LCC, MARC21, Dublin Core and LCSH.
• Operate the Koha Library Management System for cataloguing, circulation, and reporting.
• Support inventory, labelling, shelving, and circulation desk activities.
• Prepare library usage reports and assist users with databases and search tools.
• Maintain and develop paper and digital archives, applying metadata standards.
• Digitise and scan archival materials and ensure proper filing.
• Help develop archival guidelines and multilingual documentation of artistic outputs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Archival Studies or a related field.
• Practical experience with the Koha Library Management System and discovery tools.
• Familiarity with cataloguing and classification standards such as AACR2, DDC, LCC, MARC21, Dublin Core and LCSH.
