Programme Supervisor – Directing

About the role

The Sharjah Performing Arts Academy is seeking a Programme Supervisor‑Directing (equivalent to Assistant Professor) to lead postgraduate directing education. This full‑time position will supervise MFA Directing students, develop and deliver directing courses, and may direct Academy productions.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise MFA Directing students and oversee their involvement in Academy productions.
• Develop, implement and assess all Directing courses within the postgraduate programme.
• Ensure safe practice standards across all directing activities.
• Manage course budgets, assessment processes and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with Programme Leaders in Production Arts, Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance and the Production Manager.
• Report to the Programme Leader Postgraduate Studies and the Executive Director.
• Participate in thesis supervisory committees and contribute to research, scholarship and creative activity.

Required profile

• Extensive practical experience in directing and a proven track record in course management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead assessment, budgeting and team coordination.
• Capacity to mentor postgraduate students and engage with professional networks locally, nationally and internationally.
• Potential to meet university expectations for research, scholarship, teaching and service.
