Assistant Manager – Education (Lost Chambers Aquarium)

About the role

The Assistant Manager oversees the Lost Chambers Aquarium Marine Educator team, delivering conservation education programmes to guests. You will ensure high‑quality, engaging content and support the development of staff through coaching and training.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the Marine Educator team, maintaining high standards of educational delivery.
• Deliver and delegate educational programmes for small and large groups, adjusting to operational needs.
• Monitor school and group bookings, brief staff, and ensure resources are prepared.
• Coach educators on marine life, conservation, and interpretation methods using structured learning resources.
• Produce reports on education activities, guest feedback, and KPI performance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date SOPs, department manuals, and ensure compliance with animal welfare practices.
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and colleague engagement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, Zoology, Marine Science, Communication or related field (desirable).
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
• Previous experience in education and guest interaction within a zoo, aquarium or museum.
• Proven ability to develop and implement educational programmes and evaluate their effectiveness.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and administrative abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
