Assistant Manager Life Underwriter (UAE National) - Dubai

About the role

Orient Insurance, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Life Underwriter (UAE National) to join its Life Insurance team in Dubai. The role covers assessing life insurance applications, evaluating risks, making underwriting decisions within delegated authority and supporting business objectives while keeping underwriting profitable and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate life insurance applications against company underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Review medical, financial, occupational and lifestyle information to judge risk acceptability.
• Approve, decline, postpone or modify coverage terms within delegated authority.
• Liaise with brokers, intermediaries, sales teams, medical providers and customers for additional information.
• Ensure timely processing of new business, renewals, endorsements and policy amendments.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records in internal systems and support product development with underwriting insights.
• Work with claims, operations and sales teams to support business growth and retention.

Required profile

• UAE National with Family Book (Emirati) - mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Insurance or a related discipline; fresh graduates with strong academic credentials may be considered.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, good numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team, with integrity and professionalism.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Good verbal and written communication in English.
