Assistant Medical Underwriting Manager

About the role

A leading insurance organization, recruited through Intelligent Solutions, is looking for an Assistant Medical Underwriting Manager in Dubai. The role offers strong ownership and visibility, working closely with senior stakeholders to influence decisions, strengthen underwriting governance and support the expansion of Group, SME and Individual business lines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead underwriting activities across Group, SME and Individual medical insurance portfolios
• Assess complex medical risks and determine pricing, terms and coverage structures
• Analyze claims experience, utilization trends and risk profiles to inform underwriting decisions
• Support portfolio growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and loss ratio control
• Partner with business development teams and brokers to structure competitive, sustainable solutions
• Manage renewals, identifying risks and opportunities to improve retention and profitability
• Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to underwriting governance, reporting and strategic planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Allied Health Sciences, Insurance, Risk Management or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in medical underwriting
• Strong exposure to Group, SME and Individual medical insurance portfolios
• CII / Dip CII qualification preferred
• Good understanding of market practices and regulatory frameworks in medical insurance
