Assistant Merchandiser – Retail

About the role

The Assistant Merchandiser supports senior merchandising teams in driving sales and managing stock for M&S stores across the region. You will be involved in allocation, reporting, catalogue buying and store communication, ensuring optimal product availability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage allocation processes, including BTF setting, ratio balancing and AI allocation tools, while training allocators.
• Generate and maintain business reports, track promotions, analyse trade data and recommend actions to improve sell‑through.
• Assist in catalogue buying, maintain core buying sheets, enter quantities into IBT/Digital Range Building and prepare planograms.
• Serve as the first point of contact for stores on stock issues, support weekly trade communications and digital transformation initiatives.
• Coach team members, set SMART objectives, and ensure succession planning in line with Al‑Futtaim values.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in fashion buying or merchandising, preferably with exposure to UK/European brands.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with store and internal teams.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• High competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of SAP (beneficial).
