Assistant Resident Engineer

About the role

Parsons is looking for an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil) to support the construction supervision of water distribution network projects for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer to ensure safe, on‑schedule delivery in line with approved drawings, specifications and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise water network construction activities, including excavation, pipe laying, thrust restraint, chambers, valves, backfilling and reinstatement.
• Guide Inspectors, review site inspections, attend field and laboratory tests, and approve daily supervision activities.
• Maintain red‑mark and as‑built drawing corrections, verify contractor submissions and advise on final approvals.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule, report status, and support timely completion.
• Participate in HSE walkthroughs, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with permit‑to‑work systems.

Required profile

• Minimum Engineering Degree (BE or BSc) in Civil Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in consultancy on water network projects.
• Strong knowledge of client specifications, international standards and OSHAD Codes of Practice.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Water network installation, testing, disinfection and commissioning practices.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and inspection‑test plans.
• Proficiency with computer applications for record management, reporting and engineering software.
• Understanding of HSE requirements for confined spaces, excavation, lifting, working at height and permit‑to‑work systems.
