Assistant Sous Chef - Outside Catering

About the role

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, a 5-star hotel in downtown Dubai with 1,608 rooms and 10 restaurants and lounges, is looking for an Assistant Sous Chef for its outside catering. The role supervises cooks and kitchen workers, coordinates food presentation and quality, and supports the kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen workers, and assist them with their tasks.
• Determine how food should be presented, create decorative food displays, and ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and the stock of kitchen supplies and food.
• Prepare special meals or substitute items and inform the Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items.
• Maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program and check food quality, notifying the manager of non-compliant products.
• Help management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and motivating staff.
• Follow company, safety and security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training.
• Keep a professional appearance, protect company assets and confidential information, and address guests' service needs.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• 4 to 6 years of related work experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Able to stand, sit or walk for long periods, bend, twist and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
