Assistant/Associate Professor – Architecture Design & Digital Architecture

About the role

The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah seeks an assistant or associate professor to lead undergraduate design studios and digital architecture courses. The role focuses on contemporary design processes, computational tools, and AI‑driven methods, fostering creativity and critical thinking.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate design studios, design communication (manual and digital), and digital architecture courses.
• Deliver project‑based studios that integrate hand drawing, physical modeling, and digital visualization.
• Supervise and mentor students across design and theoretical courses.
• Develop curriculum and innovate courses aligned with NAAB standards.
• Conduct research, publish peer‑reviewed work, and maintain a strong professional portfolio.
• Participate in departmental, university, and community service activities.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (PhD, D.ARCH, or Master’s) in Architectural Design or Digital Architecture from a reputable university.
• Strong professional portfolio demonstrating creative practice and competition experience.
• Track record of teaching studio and theoretical architecture courses.
• Familiarity with NAAB accreditation processes and standards.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Required skills

• Parametric modeling, algorithmic design, digital fabrication, and generative design.
• Proficiency with Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, Dynamo, BIM, Adobe Suite, Midjourney, and DALL·E.
• Strong research profile with peer‑reviewed publications.
