Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is seeking an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence to play a leading role in its Advanced Technology and AI Center. The position combines leadership, research and teaching in a dynamic environment, with a strong emphasis on industry engagement, applied research, innovation and strategic collaboration. The successful candidate will help build partnerships with technology companies, research organisations and international academic institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
• Lead and oversee ABET accreditation processes and ensure compliance with CAA standards
• Support continuous improvement through assessment, learning outcomes evaluation and data-driven decision-making
• Teach undergraduate courses aligned with departmental needs
• Lead faculty development, mentoring and performance evaluation
• Establish and sustain a nationally or internationally recognised research agenda and encourage external research funding
• Represent the department at school and university level and serve on key committees
• Advise and mentor students and promote outreach, industry collaboration and community engagement

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence or a related computing discipline from an accredited institution
• Demonstrated academic leadership experience, such as department chair or program coordinator
• Proven experience with ABET accreditation and knowledge of CAA accreditation standards and reporting
• University-level teaching experience and a strong record of scholarship and research
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
